Clay in the service of beauty

We draw our passion from the earth of our quarries. In the heart of nature, our raw earth materials are the fruit of craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology. Argilus is much more than a range of earthen plasters and ecological materials: it’s an experience, an art of living.
Argilus opens the door to timeless elegance and adds a touch of sophistication to every project. Whether for a contemporary interior or a traditional home, Argilus offers a tailor-made solution for every space.
When authenticity meets innovation
The oldest traces of raw earth construction discovered in Europe date back to 6000 BC. Today, the combination of ancestral know-how, innovation and an industrial approach enables Argilus to produce materials that are good for people and the planet.
Humidity reduction
The clay used in Argilus products naturally regulates ambient humidity thanks to its hygroscopic properties. It can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in water, improving comfort and indoor air quality.
Breathable material
Clay allows walls to breathe, contributing to better thermal regulation and reduced heating requirements, which can cut energy consumption by up to 10%.
Reduced carbon footprint
Compared with conventional building materials such as cement, clay has a lower carbon footprint. In fact, the production of Argilus coatings requires less energy, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.
Recyclable and natural material
Argilus products are fully biodegradable and can be 100% recycled, minimizing the environmental impact at the end of the building’s life.

A company within a group committed to low-carbon construction
Julien Blanchard, already manager of the Gillaizeau brickworks founded in 1850, created Argilus in 2009. The challenge is both industrial and environmental, to enhance the value of clay, an age-old material, by making it part of the eco-construction revolution. In 2014, Argilus was then behind the creation of Hoffmann Green, a pioneer in decarbonated cement. Three companies united by a shared vision of industrial innovation and environmental commitment, driven by Julien Blanchard, President of the three entities.

Argilus, specialized in clay-based materials, and Hoffmann Green, leader in decarbonated cements, share a mission: to reduce the environmental impact of building materials while maintaining high technical quality. Thanks to their complementary approach, these two companies are contributing to more sustainable construction, by promoting the use of natural and ecological materials, such as clay for Argilus, and by revolutionizing cement manufacturing with the world’s first 0% clinker cements for Hoffmann Green.
Together, they are redefining construction standards by combining technology and ecological responsibility.
